Beautiful Mercedes
This is our baby girl sucking on her index finger. She is so cute. She just melts both our hearts! (So I am trying to upload videos of Mercedes, but don't know how. Can someone comment and explain to me how?)

FEBRUARY 17th
Well today is the "big due date" as was given to me last summer, however still no baby. They say that only 5% are born on the D Day anyway, so I don't even know why we make such a big deal about the due date. Maybe it's because we like the anticipation and just need a specific date to look forward to? Anyway I'm realizing that my due date is really just a random day smack dab in the middle of all of the other days that our baby could come. Makes me wish I wasn't SOO excited to reach this day. It is a landmark however, keeps me on my toes and now that it is passing I know that the baby really is coming SOON. They say that around 50% of babies are born before the due date and 50% after. Well now that I've passed that mark I figure I'm now at a 100% chance of her coming any time! :)
I have my 40 week appointment in an hour and so hopefully my midwife will have some good information for me. In the end, however, no matter what the midwife might say, the body is the ultimate one to decide WHEN labor will begin. We'll keep you posted. Have a good day!

Manly man's Painting

Okay folks! Taylor here. After my last post, remember? the "Manly man's pizza"? Yeah I decided to do a manly man's painting. I had never done a painting with oils and have been wanting to. Kenz, my beautiful, amazing , sexy wife, showed me how to use oils. I had been looking at guns all day and thought, "What more perfect than to paint a beautiful Smith & Wesson 1911 .45 cal with Crimson Trace laser grips!". I mean come on really. Well I did it and the following pictures is the progression of the painting. Hope you all like it!

Time
The time is going very slowly. This is a short post, I just wanted to say how slow time is. S.L.O.W. Very very slow.

Late night heartburn, eventual hunger and more heartburn.
I guess the title says it all. It's after 1:00 in the morning and I had to get out of bed because my heartburn was ruthless. I never really had heartburn until after I got pregnant and now that I'm coming to the end it is CRUEL. I had a sandwich with mustard and chili powder like 5 hours ago but apparently it's still making it's effect. After laying in bed reading for an hour or so I finally told Taylor I was going to have to get up, not even anti-acids were doing the trick. I sit up hoping that as time passes along with the digestion of my food I'll be good to go. But NOOOO. Too much time passes and I start to get those terrible hunger pains of pregnancy. So I have to eat something again. Something preferrably non-acidic. But then of course the heartburn starts to act up again. Pregnancy really has been pretty good to me but seriously... I think this hearburn is one of my least favorite things of all. Woe is me, I think I'll stick in a movie and eat some more baby carrots or make some rice or something. Sweet dreams everybody.

Waiting...
Update! 38 weeks, 41 and a half inches around the waist. My midwife said she's head down and things are looking good!I started a list a few months ago of projects and things I needed to get done before the baby is born. As I got closer to the end and stopped working I tried to figure out how to space everything out just right. I wanted to have things to do all the way up until the baby is born, but I also didn't want to have the baby earlier than expected and not get everything done! So I just went ahead and worked on my list day by day and hoped for the best. Last night I finished the last big "to do" and although I now have to come up with more small projects to keep me busy I feel a lot more at peace. But see the thing is, now I'm READY and WAITING. With 12 days still to go until D-day Taylor and I go about our daily activities as usual but feel like all we're really doing is WAITING. And just the fact that she COULD come any time makes me feel like a ticking time bomb. At least, one that I wish would go off sooner than later! The good thing is I always have plenty of cleaning and organizing to do and I really don't think I've ever been this diligent at organizing every cupboard, drawer and closet in the house. (They're not quite all there yet). I KNOW that the nesting instinct is real for a reason. It brings a certain calm to have things clean. The funny thing is, the baby's not going to notice how neatly organized the food is in the refrigerator or how clean the window seals are. But WE notice. Us women, it brings a certain peace to know that all the extra bedding and sheets are neatly folded in one place, the photo albums on the computer are organized and that all of the DVDs are perfectly organized. (Yes, even alphabetically if you have to know. Yes call me crazy). Between naps and relaxing, the urge to clean and organize (and also sew and make things) can be pretty intense. But like I said, it is definitely something to do! And as we all know there is never an end to housework.
