We have a One Year Old!

Yes It is true. We almost can't believe it.

Sunday Taylor's family came over and we threw a birthday party for our little critter. I probably had a little too much fun getting ready for it.
The little outfit she is wearing is an adorable little outfit given to us at a baby shower before she was born. It came in a "birthday package" put together for when our baby turned one year.
I just love this face.
We opened presents first. I love this picture because all three of us are so intensely focused on getting the toy out of its package.
We told her to give the toy a kiss and so she did.
She was starting to learn that there were fun things inside the packages.
Taylor and I got her a book that was one of my favorites growing up. The Runaway Bunny.
Great-Grandma 'Nette from Utah sent Mercedes this cute little monkey. She loved it instantly.
This cheesy smile gets me every time. This is her crinkly nose grin.
She loves putting things on her face and head. Go figure?
Throughout the whole event she would stop and look up at the Tinkerbell balloon Grandma and Grandpa Nelson gave her. She loved that thing most of all I think.

Aunt BJ made her this ADORABLE little tutu and we had to try it out immediately.
She wasn't too sure about it.
LOVE.

I never knew it would be so fun to celebrate our one-year-old's birthday.

After presents came the cake and "Happy Birthday Song." She wasn't too sure about 9 people standing around her and singing to her.
Of course she had to take a bite out of the cake.
This was her first ever piece of cake! She was actually quite dainty about it.
The she decided to get her hands dirty.

She thoroughly enjoyed her cake.
And let me tell you this girl loves her water.
It was such a fun party. Taylor and I are loving every minute of parenting and are so excited for every day with Mercedes.

Ahhh!!! ADORABLE. Love the tutu from B.J., and the new 1 yr. outfit (who gave that to her?). Hopefully you'll get something in the mail from me someday. :)
You did a great job on that darling cake, and the decorating. Ah, the energy of a young mom. :) Actually, I can see you doing that your whole life, with all your kids.
Mercedes is sooo cute. Thanks for posting the pics, Kenz. You are fast!
