And below, we have Mercedes playing at the park. I know it's not Utah weather but it was pretty cold at this time of day and so we called Taylor to come and pick us up from the park. I was too cold to walk home!
Here is Mercedes waiting to run errands, with chips in hand. I just love this girl!
So I officially have a new hobby. After finishing the T.V. stand I really wanted to begin another project. I found these two nightstands on Craigslist for almost nothing and luckily they were still available! I got them last night thinking I would fix them up and then sell them. The second part of that plan quickly vanished as we decided to keep them for ourselves.
Underneath the crazy paint job these nightstands are actually amazing quality pieces of furniture. Yay!After Mercedes was in bed I set out to make something beautiful out of these things.
First I sanded...
And sanded some more just to rough it up.
And again making chalk paint by adding Plaster of Paris to our paint I put three coats onto the nightstand. The color is Peach Tea by Valspar. When it was dry I distressed it.
The next morning in front of a warm fire and Curious George the movie I painted the inside.
I used the same color I painted the T.V. stand.
(The inside eventually got a second coat of blue to even the tone).Later we went to the store to find some fabric swatches and this is where I found Taylor and Mercedes. He was teaching her how to hold this foam gun.
And here is is the final product!! The yellow in the photo is more saturated than it is in real life. It's actually more of a creamy yellow.
more like this:
I finished the distressing by rubbing a stain into the distressed areas only and then buffed furniture wax over the whole nightstand. Then I decoupaged fabric into the drawer. Ta da!
All that in 24 hours. Phew. I was a little bit obsessed but now I'm going to take a little break...before I start the second one!
